The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) has learnt of the video and voice-notes circulating on various social media platforms.
The video in question is of graphic and violent nature where scammers posing as NHBRC home inspectors, in NHBRC regalia, were caught and assaulted attempting to solicit bribes from contractors to avoid ‘non-compliances’.
The NHBRC does not endorse nor condone the vigilante violence and profanities contained in audio-visual content. We also wish to confirm that the imposters who were assaulted whilst posing as NHBRC Home Inspectors, are in no way affiliated with the NHBRC.
NHBRC inspectors would never solicit any bribes to avoid issuing administrative and technical non-compliances. We have engaged the relevant authorities to support us accordingly.
We implore housing consumers and homebuilders/ contractors to always verify every NHBRC inspector on their site/s through:
– Official NHBRC Inspector Identification Card with tittles
– Calling the respective provincial or head office for confirmation
– NHBRC Regalia with the inspector number
– The NHBRC website lists inspector and their contact details
We also encourage home builders and consumers to call the NHBRC to request inspections.
Should you have any doubts and concerns on any representative please call the national number at 011 317 0000 or 080 020 0824.
